Career Direct Assessment and Consultation
Career Direct® is a comprehensive career assessment system that combines biblical principles with cutting-edge career guidance, technology, and statistics. The underlying principle behind this report is to align your vocation with your NATURAL personalities, interests, skills/abilities, and values. Career Direct was developed over 20 years by a team of researchers and is statistically verifiable and reliable. How does it work?
Personality — It all starts with YOU! The assessment will analyze six factors of personality and 16 sub-factors that will give a clear picture of how you are uniquely created and your career implications. Are you curious? What would be your guess?
We are all on a continuum for each of these traits and the results are often surprising. In addition to looking at these basic personality traits, we will also explore another 16 sub-factor traits that influence our personality and fit in the world!
Vocational Interests — You will receive a ranked listing of your top eight (8) career groups consisting of three components — Occupations (those things you could see yourself doing), Activities (things you like to do) and Subjects (things you like to learn about). Through our consultation, you will decide which are actual occupation possibilities, which could be considered supportive (you like them, but not enough to have it as a whole job), or what could be considered a hobby or lifestyle interest.
Skills and Abilities — Your ranked listing of your skills and abilities will be crucial as you evaluate possible job opportunities. When you match your occupation to your natural strengths, you will begin with a distinct advantage! In addition to just being more fun, working in your strengths will let you swim with the current, not against it, decreasing stress on the job and giving you confidence going forward.
Values — Even if your career is a great match for your personality, interests and skills, you could still be dissatisfied and stressed if your work does not match your values. Incorporating your values into the career choice mix will greatly increase your chances for a long, fulfilling, rewarding career. Many times we believe if the rewards (money) are there, we can do anything that is reasonably aligned with our skills and abilities, but all too often find this is not true. This Value section divides into three parts: What we want in a Work Environment, Outcomes we want from our work and finally, our Life Priorities — what are your overriding values that will stay consistent over time?
